Dental Sealants

The plastic material that covers and protects one's teeth, dental sealants are especially used for the back molars and pre-molars, to keep out the germs that cause tooth decay. Sealants usually come in liquid form and harden over the tooth surfaces to prevent tooth decay.

After the tooth is thoroughly cleaned and dried, and then rinsed and dried a second time, the sealant is applied. It dries within seconds.

Although regular brushing and flossing is encouraged in addition to the use of fluoride toothpaste, sealants are unquestionably the most effective method of preventing tooth decay. Children are advised to get sealants on their permanent molars as soon as they come in; even full adults, however, are strongly encouraged to get sealants, especially for those teeth that worn and sensitive.
